Houston's unemployment rate rises with oil downturn

The unemployment rate in the Houston area rose in January to 4.8 percent, the Texas Workforce Commission reported Friday, as job losses in the oil and gas sector continued to take their economic toll. Education and health services, leisure and hospitality, and manufacturing all added to the workforce January, the commission said.
